Latest news - December 2024:

A massive thank you to everyone who has donated to build Wairarapa Station. Thanks to the generousity of all involved we have achieved the target of $8.5million that funds the build and fit out of the purpose built Station in Masterton.

The build continues to progress towards a mid-year 2025 move in date with an official opening happening around that time.

All support from the community that continues to come through will go towards the ongoing costs of service to the community - keeping emergency ambulance free of charge.

Here for you and all of Wairarapa.

The Wairarapa Station is based in Masterton on the corner of Russell and Queen Street. This central highly populated area of the region will ensure our our crews can reach even the most remote areas of the Wairarapa. For the South Wairarapa, Wellington Free Ambulance's Greytown Station based at Five Rivers will remain a key base for emergency ambulance services. so

Building commenced at the end of 2023 with work continuing throughout 2024. The building will become a working ambulance station mid-year 2025, when crews will move in.

Wellington Free Ambulance is the only emergency ambulance service covering the 8,423 kilometres of the vast landscape of the Wairarapa region, free of charge. We also provide a patient transfer service and medical support to key events in the community.

Community support keeps ambulance services free of charge.

This significant investment in your community is being funded through a partnership model across Wellington Free Ambulance, a Crown contribution, and community fundraising.

The Wellington Free Ambulance Trust has committed $3million seed funding to this build.

Since the campaign launch in early 2023 over $8.5million has been contributed to this vital project. This support funds the build and fit out of the ambulance station.

All donations made in the Wairarapa will be used to ensure emergency ambulance services remain free of charge for the community.

I am beyond grateful that we have a free ambulance service here in the Wairarapa. That when I needed help, they were close by and there in time. Thanks to them, I still have my foot. An amputation would have been a truly life changing event in every sense for me.
